By definition, cosmeceutical means a product (usually skincare) that is considered a cosmetic for the purpose of regulatory guidelines and oversight but contains biologically active ingredients intended to provide cosmetic and therapeutic benefits to the skin. MK products do not contain any artificial fragrances. We formulate our facial skin care products using essential oils that can smell fragrant, however, these are used to improve the efficacy of the product, not to create a scent. Many essential oils provide benefits such as decreasing inflammation, increasing hydration, and normalizing your skin’s microbiome balance. We use only the purest forms of essential oils. I have a lot of deep wrinkles. Will this skin care line smooth them? With any topical skin care product, there is a limit to how much change you can see. Deep wrinkles are caused by collagen loss in the deep layer of skin. Retinaldehyde Vitamin A (MK Vital A Serum), Vitamin C (MK C Radiance) & Peptides (MK Bio Peptide Serum) ingredients will provide your skin with all it needs to build collagen. With consistent use, you will see a softening of fine lines and wrinkles. For more significant wrinkle repair, lasers, peels and fillers may be needed to achieve your goals. The use of Mikel Kristi products with these treatments will help maintain your results long-term skin brightening & anti wrinkle results. How long will it take to see results? Results can vary depending on the initial condition of the skin. With any skincare product, expect 90 days for full cellular turnover and results. You will notice improvements prior to 90 days; however, the longer the use of the products, the more results you will notice as the skin becomes firmer, healthier and more radiant. How do the products exfoliate the skin when they don’t feel grainy? Two types of Exfoliation: physical and chemical. Physical: Uses a grainy textured substance to scrub to remove dead skin cells. This is NOT recommended on facial skin as it leads to damage and textural changes. Chemical Exfoliation: Uses ingredients to loosen the bonds between the dead skin cells. In children with perfect skin, exfoliation happens frequently without skin care. With aging, this natural exfoliation process begins to slow causing clogged pores, acne & dry, dull skin. To encourage natural exfoliation, we use ingredients like glycolic acid, lactic acid & retinaldehyde. Why do the colors of my products vary when I repurchase? Natural ingredients can vary in color with each batch. This does not affect the efficacy of our natural skin care products. Does Mikel Kristi have vegan skin care products? Yes, all of Mikel Kristi products are Leaping Bunny certified, cruelty free and vegan! I have been using the products for a week and I am breaking out more. Why is this happening? If you have any tendency towards acne, then starting a new more potent skin care routine may purge the skin and cause a temporary increase in breakouts. This happens because of the increase in cell turnover from ingredients like glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, and Retinaldehyde which will bring acne that may have been brewing under the skin to the surface more quickly. Be patient as the increase in breakouts may be an indication that the product is actually doing its job, and is working for you. This issue usually resolves in 3-8 weeks. However, It is best to work with an aesthetic medical professional to help you navigate the course so that you are not getting more acne scarring. I am new to Mikel Kristi products and when I apply them my skin tingles/gets red/dry/burns. Am I allergic to the product? If you have very sensitive or dry skin, you may notice redness and flaking with new products & potent active ingredients. This reaction will improve as the product removes the dull, unhealthy skin. If it is unbearable, then stop for 4-5 days to calm the skin. Then restart your sensitive skin care routine more slowly by applying the product every few days. This makes the transition from unhealthy to renewed skin more tolerable. Allergy: Moderate to severe redness, blistering, pustules, severe itching, burning, swelling, hives, and/or cracking raw skin. Stop application immediately, and see your skincare practitioner. Why are the moisturizers light weight? The thickness of a moisturizer does not equal the amount of hydration. Many ingredients that are highly moisturizing like hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate are actually a clear pure serum. A thicker moisturizer may feel better but may not actually be more moisturizing. Moisturizing ingredients can be humectants that attract water to the skin or emollients that prevent water loss from the skin. All MK serums, toners and moisturizers actually contain highly effective humectant ingredients. Hydrated skin is more about skin health rather than application of a heavy moisturizing cream.
